The Secretary General for Territory and Biodiversity and President of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of the Environment presented this morning at a press conference the conclusions of the debate cycle “The use of water in the Spanish economy: situation and perspectives”. Precisely today the last session of this cycle that has been developed throughout 2007 was held in Murcia in cities such as Madrid, Seville, Santander, Zaragoza, Malaga and Valencia.

The Ministry of the Environment, in collaboration with the Biodiversity Foundation, has organised this cycle based on two reports prepared by the Ministry’s Economic Analysis Group, in collaboration with the Basin Organisations and with more than 100 professionals and researchers; in compliance with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive. These reports are: “The Use of Water in the Spanish Economy: Situation and Prospects” and “Prices and Costs of Water Services in Spain”.
