The Spanish Association of Foundations (AFE) has announced the winners of its III Edition of the Spanish Association of Foundations Awards, which recognize, each year, the Spanish foundations that best represent the values of the sector in the fulfillment of the purposes of general interest.

The jury of the awards has distinguished, in this edition, the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, in the category of Collaboration; to the Magdalena Moriche Foundation, in the category of Philanthropic Initiative; to the Adsis Foundation, in the category of Social Innovation; and the Telefónica Foundation, in the Digital Transformation category.

The Collaboration Award has been awarded to us for our collaboration, year after year, with a large number of organizations and entities to protect biodiversity in Spain, making possible the shared and supportive defense of a greener planet and a bluer sea.

The jury for the awards was made up of Antonio Garrigues, president of the Garrigues Foundation, Lawyers and Tax Advisors; Ana María Llopis, founder and CEO of Global ideas4all SL.; Rafael Matesanz, founder of the National Transplant Organization and Prince of Asturias Award; Teresa Perales, Paralympic swimmer; Araceli Pereda, president of the Hispania Nostra Association; Bieito Rubido, director of the newspaper ABC; and Eva Saiz, deputy director of the newspaper El País.

In 2016, the Spanish Association of Foundations agreed to create the Spanish Association of Foundations Awards in order to recognise values or attitudes that reflect the essence of the foundation sector, as a platform to meet the needs of citizens and their commitment to society. In this third edition , nearly 70 candidacies from philanthropists from the third sector and/or Spanish foundations have been evaluated.

The awards ceremony will be held within the framework of Demos 2018: Forum of Foundations and Civil Society, a meeting that celebrates its second edition on November 26 at the headquarters of MediaLab-Prado and Caixaforum Madrid.
