“The Face of Climate Change” is the theme chosen for this year’s celebration of International Earth Day.

On the occasion of International Earth Day, images of people, animals and places directly affected or threatened by climate change, as well as photographs of those striving to fight against it, have been collected worldwide.

The United Nations assigned April 22 as International Mother Earth Day, a recognition of the Earth and its ecosystems, as well as the responsibility that corresponds to the population, as set out in the Rio Declaration of 1992. In the same way, it recognizes the need to promote harmony with nature and the Earth in order to achieve a fair balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations.
