Less than 10% remains for Spain to meet the European objectives of the Kyoto Protocol – the reduction of emissions by 8% during the period 2008-2012 – a goal to be achieved associated with the recent investment in CO2 emission rights.
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Federico Ramos, has travelled to Warsaw to sign the agreement for the purchase of CO2 emission rights in Poland, an agreement that involves an investment of 40 million euros, which would mean about 100 million tonnes of CO2. In this way, the total investment made in recent years now amounts to 770 million euros.
In this way, Spain and Poland support each other in achieving their policies in favour of “clean air”, through an acquisition that is linked to clean energy projects in which Spanish companies are involved in the development of the “clean air”.
