Cristina Narbona presents the Biodiversity Foundation Reporting Awards

The Minister of the Environment, Cristina Narbona, has presented the 2005 Biodiversity Reporting Awards. A contest organized by the Biodiversity Foundation and the environmental organization Conservation International. At this event, the minister was accompanied by the Secretary General for Territory and Biodiversity and President of the Board of Trustees of the Biodiversity Foundation, Antonio Serrano, the Director General of the Biodiversity Foundation, María Artola, and the Vice President of Communication of Conservation International, Haroldo Castro.

The Prize for Reporting on Biodiversity in Spain recognises the best works on biodiversity conservation published in the Spanish press, radio, television and online media during 2005. The winning report in each of these four categories has been awarded 3,000 euros.

In the written press category, the winning report was “Nos estáis volver locos”, published by Javier Rico in El País Semanal. In radio, “Biodiversity in Castilla y León”, made by José Antonio Quirce on Onda Cero Segovia, has been awarded. The winning work in the television category was “Galapagos, Paraíso o Infierno”, by Ezequiel Martínez and Miguel Montaño, broadcast on Canal Sur Television. In the online category, “Biodiversity Conservation”, published by Álex Fernández Muerza in Consumer.es, has been awarded.

During this ceremony, the minister also presented the first and second Andean Prize for Biodiversity Reporting promoted by the Biodiversity Foundation and Conservation International and collected by its winners, Juan Fernández, from the newspaper El Espectador in Colombia, and Alexander Ayala, from the newspaper La Razón in Bolivia.
