The Minister of the Environment, Cristina Narbona, presents to the councillors of the autonomous communities, members of the Sectoral Conference on the Environment held today in Zaragoza, the policy on Coasts that her Department has been carrying out since the beginning of this legislature

The Ministry of the Environment has launched an ambitious programme for the acquisition of properties along the Spanish coast, with the aim of strengthening the protection of the coast by incorporating new spaces adjacent to it into the maritime-terrestrial public domain.

The land acquisition program on the coast will be carried out based on the collaboration of the regional administration and the municipalities involved, and always seeking the maximum possible agreement with the affected owners, so that the subsequent management of the spaces can be carried out by environmental organizations and local institutions.

The management of the coast will be developed through collaboration and coordination between the administrations affected and will be carried out through working groups set up at provincial level, which will function as advisory bodies and working forums for the comprehensive management of the coast.
