The Council of Ministers has authorised the appointment of Enrique-Jesús Calleja Hurtado as the new president of the Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation, replacing José Ignacio Sánchez Sánchez-Mora.
With a degree in Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Madrid Business School, Enrique-Jesús Calleja Hurtado’s professional career has been linked to water supply and treatment management, having carried out various jobs abroad as an expert in industrial water treatment and, from 1992 to 1999, he was in charge of the direction and management of the municipal company Aguas de Alcázar.
He has also dedicated himself to teaching, collaborating in the development of the Master’s Degree in Water Treatment at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, and teaching different specialized courses on the Environment. He has to his credit numerous publications and articles in the press on the problems of the Alto Guadiana. He belongs as a Founding Member to the New Water Culture Foundation.
