First steps for the elaboration of a Practical Guide to Eco-Restoration

Share on:

The Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB) has initiated a line of work on Eco-Restoration. The objective is to be able to offer, under a practical and multidisciplinary approach, guidelines and recommendations to make restoration an effective instrument for the conservation of natural capital. The final result is intended to be a Practical Guide to Eco-Restoration, a document that will include, in addition to guidelines, useful tools and successful experiences. This work is supported by Endesa, Ferrovial, Gas Natural Fenosa, Iberdrola, LafargeHolcim and OHL.

The Committee of Experts created under this working group met today to agree on the approach and structure of the Guide. During the meeting, which was coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, and in which experts from universities, consultants and the third sector participated, the different tasks to define the contents to be developed were also distributed.

This work is thus intended to be a document agreed upon by companies, the administration, the scientific community and conservation entities. In December, at the II International Forum on Ecological Restoration: Creating Networks, prescribers from Autonomous Communities will be convened, to ensure its practical applicability throughout the national territory.

The guide, which seeks to become a reference document for all parties involved, will be advised by reference people in the field and aims to be a useful tool for the application of the future State Strategy for Green Infrastructure and Ecological Connectivity and Restoration.
