Antarctic waters have received scientists from several countries this week, embarked on a new scientific expedition with the aim of studying the blue whale.
The initiative has been launched by a total of 18 scientists, will allow research on the behavior and habitat of the largest animal in the world, thus drawing up a census of these specimens, with more than 30 meters long and a weight that can reach 180 tons.
The Antarctic Blue Whale Project is a program of the Southern Ocean Research Partnership (SORP), in which ten countries participate (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa and the United States).
The expedition began this week from Hobart (Tanzania), which left for waters in the western area of the Ross Sea where tracking work will be carried out to locate blue whale specimens, as well as to capture images.
