The Land Stewardship Network and the Forum of Land Stewardship Networks and Entities manage two initiatives with a nexus, projects that are developed in the field of land stewardship and that have the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment.
The Network has launched the project “Improving custody. Development of commitments towards quality standards in land stewardship”, with the aim of increasing the capacity of land stewardship entities, improving cohesion and alliance between them, thanks to the application of good practice criteria that guarantee quality land stewardship.
The project has delved into the diagnosis of the needs of land stewardship entities and has made it possible to establish a methodology and set criteria to implement a land stewardship system based on good practices.
As a closing of the project, the Network organised the presentation and debate day “Towards a quality standard in land stewardship”, in which they focused on the positive evolution of land stewardship in recent years and the incorporation of new stewardship modalities called to play an important role in the future. such as agricultural custody and, above all, marine and hunting custody. Another aspect addressed was the enormous interest aroused by the public-private relationship model that land stewardship has been able to develop in recent years. Within the framework of the project, the Network has prepared a guide that includes a list of good practices in the management of land stewardship initiatives.
For its part, the project of the Forum of Land Stewardship Networks and Entities has made it possible to develop a training plan for land stewardship networks and entities. With this objective, several conferences have been organized that have been attended by more than 230 people from 124 different entities. The seminars have been held in Madrid, Zaragoza, Palma de Mallorca, Sagunto (Valencia), Santiago de Compostela and Fuentes de Nava (Palencia).
60% of the participants in the conference belonged to custodial entities or networks and 30% to other groups such as NGOs, individuals and professionals, members of local action groups, political parties and volunteers. The rest were representatives from the consulting world, public administration, private companies, students and landowners.
The results of the conference have made it possible to train agents from various networks and stewardship entities through the different workshops on good practices for land stewardship and the meetings organized.
