The Secretary of State for Rural Affairs and Water and president of the Biodiversity Foundation, Josep Puxeu, has inaugurated the Information and Documentation Centre of Cattle Trails of Malpartida de Cáceres together with the president of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, and the mayor of Malpartida de Cáceres, Víctor del Moral.

The centre, located in the Casa-Palacio de los Mayorazgo in that municipality, has been launched with the aim of creating a scientific and informative space for the heritage, natural and cultural values of the
development of the National Network of Livestock Trails, thus allowing the expansion of uses of these roads that bring so many benefits to the environment.

The Biodiversity Foundation, the Ministry of Rural Development of the Regional Government of Extremadura and the City Council of Malpartida de Cáceres have participated in its creation, through a collaboration agreement.

The actions have consisted of the rehabilitation of the historic building, belonging to the City Council, with elements of traditional architecture, as well as the conditioning of the center to adapt it to its new use with the incorporation of furniture and technical equipment, a documentary collection and informative material, in addition to the development of a website.

The building houses an interactive exhibition on cattle trails decorated with native plants and a scale watering hole that has touch computer screens, maps of real ravines with
associated photographs, simulation of transhumant routes, and has clothing and pastoral accessories for visitors. It also has a multipurpose room that will host education, awareness-raising activities and meetings and work days.
