The Spanish Railways Foundation (FFE) and the European Greenways Association (ESVMA) are organising the V European Greenways Conference, which will be held from 10 to 12 June in Madrid, coinciding with the Spanish presidency of the European Union.
European countries are becoming increasingly interested in the development of infrastructures to encourage non-motorised travel among citizens as a clean and healthy form of leisure. In this context, the Greenways play a very important role as they are accessible to people with reduced mobility, with gentle slopes, safe and very attractive.
The aim of the conference is to exchange experiences and good practices between the political agents and technical managers of European greenways involved in their planning, maintenance, management and promotion, as well as other interested groups: cyclists, pedestrians, people with disabilities, and companies interested in their development and operation. The formulation of recommendations to promote and develop a European Greenways policy will also be discussed.
The meeting is aimed at experts, consultants, politicians and technicians involved in the development and promotion of Greenways and non-motorised itineraries, who work in areas such as the environment, sustainable mobility and transport, active tourism, universal accessibility, rural development, healthy leisure, regional balance and employment.
