MAPAMA (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment), through the Biodiversity Foundation, has launched a new edition of the “Coastal Conservation Actions” Programme, with the aim of promoting the dissemination of good environmental practices to contribute to the improvement and conservation of the coastline in Spain. For the third consecutive year, this initiative includes the Responsible Beach Bars” campaign and the “Beaches, Rivers, Volunteering and Land Stewardship Program”, actions that pursue the involvement of citizens and the business sector in the conservation of the coast and the coast.

Thus, the “Responsible Beach Bars” campaign is aimed at beach establishments that sell food and drinks with the aim of encouraging their participation as interlocutors and speakers of the conservation of the coast. This campaign presents two different lines of action: the III Edition of the Responsible Beach Bar Awards and the Decalogue of Good Environmental Practices. Currently, the program has 573 beach bars adhering to this decalogue with which they are committed to improving their environmental practices and conserving the environment.

With their adhesion, the establishments undertake to carry out actions to improve the cleanliness of the facilities and the space occupied on the beach, minimise water and energy consumption, use recyclable packaging and encourage the correct use of the facilities by users, among other actions.

In support of compliance with the decalogue, MAPAMA announces this year the third edition of the “Responsible Beach Bars Awards” that aim to promote the sustainable development of economic and tourist activities on the coast. In this edition, the event has the collaboration of Mahou San Miguel.
