This month the new rules for access to the Pico del Teide, located in the National Park, have come into force, which establish the conditions and ways in which it is allowed, with prior permission, to travel along the Telesforo Bravo Trail, which connects La Rambleta with the summit of Spain (3,718 m).
The restriction of access to the Pico del Teide was established in June 1993 for reasons of visitor safety and the need to conserve an area that had been suffering from strong anthropic pressure and with special characteristics of enormous fragility. The previous regulations dated from 2001 and, in order to further facilitate the services offered by this protected natural area, rules are now in force that, among other novelties, allow the processing of the permit through the use of methods that do not require the transfer of the interested parties to the National Park office. as required to date.
It will now be possible to request such authorisation by fax (922244788) or e-mail (teide@oapn.mma.es), provided that it is done at least seven days before the scheduled date of ascent (by ordinary mail, one month) and, in any case, the maximum quota of people who can simultaneously stay on said trail is not exceeded, which is set by their maximum admissible carrying capacity, it being 50 people.
