The Biodiversity Foundation has just launched a virtual meeting space for those interested in the process towards the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, also known as Rio+20 or Earth Summit 2012, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between June 20 and 22.
On this website (http://www.fundacion-biodiversidad.es/rio20) you can register all those people or entities that are going to attend the Conference or that are participating in the previous process, share their position with respect to the issues to be discussed in it, consult both the official information and that of the different social agents involved, and communicate events or activities that take place before, during and after the end of the same.
Rio+20 will be the fourth United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development and will take place twenty years after the first historic summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and ten years after the one in Johannesburg in 2002. The Conference offers a unique opportunity to renew political commitment to sustainable development, as it will assess progress made as well as new challenges ahead.
