The director of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Sonia Castañeda, chaired the “IV Green Investment Forum: investing in biodiversity”, held at CaixaForum (Madrid) within the framework of the activities carried out by the Emprendeverde Network.

At the inauguration, Sonia Castañeda highlighted the important and growing opportunities that biodiversity offers to companies, as well as the “positive perception that exists about the growth potential of numerous sectors of the green economy in the short and medium term, which is capturing the interest of the investment sector both nationally and internationally“.

Sonia Castañeda also stated that “the Emprendeverde Network already has more than 7,700 members, of which more than 110 are investors and financiers, and of which more than 70 have participated in the green investment forums organized by the Foundation”.

The “IV Green Investment Forum: investing in biodiversity” aimed to facilitate contact between investors and entrepreneurs to channel investment towards the creation or promotion of companies or business lines that have a positive impact on the conservation of biodiversity.

During the event, a selection of eight entrepreneurs presented their projects to investors. These are companies or new lines of business that are in the sales or pre-marketing phase and are looking for a round of financing in private capital of between fifty thousand and five hundred thousand euros.

Prior to the celebration of the “IV Green Investment Forum: investing in biodiversity”, a selection process has taken place, during which 8 projects were selected from a total of 28 applications submitted. With the aim of optimising their intervention and adjusting their proposals to the dynamics of an investment forum, the selected entrepreneurs entered a training process to prepare the presentation of their project to professional investors and adapt their business plan to their interests. These training workshops were delivered by Keiretsu Forum.
