The Secretary of State for the Environment, Federico Ramos, has presented the “Observatory of Business Management of Biodiversity”, carried out by the Club for Excellence in Sustainability with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment. The study shows the strategy of Spanish companies in the management of biodiversity conservation.

Ramos has valued that Spanish companies have been able to incorporate variables such as the protection of biodiversity into their business activity. Biodiversity is currently a challenge within sustainability, and only sustainable companies will last,” he said.

In this sense, the report shows that 72% of large companies consider biodiversity conservation as part of their business strategy and that 22% of them consider it a business opportunity. This was presented by the general secretary of the Club for Excellence in Sustainability, Juan Alfaro, during the event.

In addition, the study, which took into account the opinion of 50 large companies and 235 SMEs, reveals that only 24% of large companies and 3% of SMEs have training plans for their workers to integrate knowledge and biodiversity conservation related to their activities.
