The Biodiversity Foundation allocates more than 250,000 euros to promote job creation and the improvement of the environment in Cantabria

The director of the Biodiversity Foundation, a public foundation of the Government of Spain, under the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, Ana Leiva, has signed today in Santander a collaboration agreement with the secretary of the CEOE-CEPYME Cantabria Business Services Foundation, Yves Manuel Díaz de Villegas, to develop projects that promote employment and good environmental practices in that Autonomous Community. within the framework of the Empleaverde Program. The Government delegate in Cantabria, Agustín Ibáñez, and the Director of Industry and Innovation and Environment of the Chamber of Commerce of Cantabria, Martín Silván Gutiérrez-Cortines, also participated in the presentation of this initiative.

The Biodiversity Foundation, as the managing body of the European Social Fund (ESF), allocates 254,338 euros to promote job creation and the improvement of the environment in Cantabria.

This investment will be used to develop the “Climate Change and Energy Platform” project of the CEOE-CEPYME Cantabria Business Services Foundation.

In addition, it will allow the implementation of five other initiatives in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, tourism and waste. Thus, the Confederation of Forestry Organizations of Spain is developing the “Forestalia” project to promote self-employment and the creation of new sustainable agroforestry farms. Likewise, the EDUFORES Foundation carries out the “JANUS” project aimed at the forestry sector and Europarc Spain- Fernando González Bernáldez Interuniversity Foundation for Natural Spaces carries out the “ENPlea Sostenible” initiative that carries out activities aimed at the conservation of biodiversity and tourism in protected areas. For its part, the project “Training in the compatibility of livestock management and wildlife” developed by COAG Rural Initiative is aimed at the agricultural sector, while the Association through the Technical project for Waste Management, Urban Cleaning and Environment (ATEGRUS) with the initiative “Sustainable Waste Management and Valuation” is aimed at the waste sector.

CLIMATE CHANGE

The project “Platform for the mitigation and adaptation to climate change and energy management of companies in Cantabria” carried out by the CEOE-CEPYME Cantabria Business Services Foundation aims to equip workers in SMEs in various sectors such as metal, construction, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and tourism. of tools for managing greenhouse gas emissions and energy, to achieve sustainable management. At the same time, the qualifications and skills of these workers will be increased, which will favour the creation of jobs with an environmental profile in companies, to contribute to meeting the objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

To achieve this objective, the project plans to develop actions such as continuous technical assistance in the field of emissions, climate change, energy, water, or waste; the development of a web environment that serves as a meeting place for the recipients; the training and awareness of workers and the development of specific studies for continuous improvement.
