The Biodiversity Foundation has launched the “Beaches, rivers, volunteering and land stewardship” programme with the aim of promoting the involvement of citizens in the conservation of the coastline and inter-community watersheds and promoting the creation of a stable network of volunteers for the maintenance and improvement of these spaces.

Through this program, the Biodiversity Foundation gives continuity to the beach and river conservation actions initiated in 2012. As a novelty, this year special attention is paid to the collection of marine waste and litter.

For its development, the Biodiversity Foundation has begun the process to collect proposals from land stewardship entities that contribute to the objectives of the Programme. The most innovative and participatory proposals will be selected.

Proposals for projects will be received until November 14, 2014. During this period, the volunteering actions will be carried out in the Autonomous Communities located on the coast and in those that include inter-community river basins -Miño, Sil, Eastern and Western Cantabrian, Duero, Tajo, Guadiana, Guadalquivir, Segura, Júcar and Ebro-.

Proposals from land stewardship entities can be sent to the e-mail address playasyrios@fundacion-biodiversidad.es. All the information on the “Beaches, rivers, volunteers and land stewardship” programme is available on the Biodiversity Foundation website .
