The Biodiversity Foundation, under the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, has organised the festive day “20th Birthday of the LIFE Programme”, to celebrate the anniversary of the largest environmental conservation instrument in Europe. It will take place this Saturday, May 19, at the Royal Botanical Garden-CSIC from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The celebration is aimed at all members of the family, who will be able to enjoy activities such as storytelling, clowns, face painting, balloon twisting, guided tours of the Garden, as well as visiting the model of an oceanographic research submarine. There will be no shortage of the mascots of the Biodiversity Foundation: the lynx Mayú, the Robin bear and the capercaillie Paquito. Admission is free by presenting the invitation that can be obtained on the website: www.fundacion-biodiversidad.es.
LIFE is the European Union’s financial instrument dedicated exclusively to the environment that, since 1992, has co-financed projects with approximately 2.5 billion euros. For its part, the Biodiversity Foundation has participated in the development of nine LIFE+ projects, either as a coordinator or as a partner in them.
