The Biodiversity Foundation, a public foundation of the Government of Spain, under the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, will participate in the celebration party of the 50th issue of the magazine “Los Lunnis”, of the Bauer Ediciones Group, which will take place today, Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Zoo Aquarium of Madrid. Casa de Campo s/n. The Biodiversity Foundation has organised a series of activities aimed at disseminating the values of biodiversity among participants, focusing on the popularisation of endangered Iberian species among young people.
Thus, the youngest will be able to learn about the problems of the most endangered species in our country through the “Countdown Game”. It is a dynamic group game, similar to the popular game of the goose, in which they will learn to contribute to conserving and caring for the environment. Thus, the little ones have fun on a huge board on which endangered species are represented. Through it they have to save endangered animals and plants, avoid the dangers that lie in wait for them and reach the year 2010 with all the species saved. In addition to the lynx, the capercaillie and the brown bear, they will find other characters, representing endangered species, such as the Balearic toad or ferreret, the Iberian wolf, the imperial eagle and the loggerhead turtle. This hobby allows the little ones to learn about the problems of our most endangered fauna and flora in our country.
In addition, the characters of BioDíver, the children’s section of the Biodiversity Foundation website, will come to the Zoo Aquarium of Madrid to celebrate this event with Los Lunnis. The lynx “Mayú”, the brown bear “Robin” and the capercaillie “Paquito” will share games and activities with the children.
The children who participate in the games organized by the Biodiversity Foundation will be presented with the Countdown 2010 game, similar to the huge board on which they have played and which also serves as an individual tablecloth. Likewise, they will be given the stories starring the characters of BioDíver, the lynx “Mayú”, the wolf “Lola”, the capercaillie “Paquito”, the brown bear “Robin” and the ferreret or Balearic toad “Tomeu”, so that children can learn more about these endangered species and what are the threats they face.
The collaboration between the Biodiversity Foundation and the magazine “Los Lunnis” began in March 2007. Since that date, this publication aimed at children has declared itself a “friend of nature”, including the dissemination of environmental content in its pages.
