The director of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, Sonia Castañeda, has attended, in San Fernando de Henares, the expansion of “El Bosque de Yves Rocher“, a project that seeks to raise awareness among the population about the importance of conserving our biodiversity.
The Yves Rocher Forest was inaugurated on December 1, 2013, through a reforestation with the participation of 220 volunteers, Yves Rocher workers and their families. On that day, approximately 500 plants of native species were planted. The forest was completed, throughout the month of December, by a professional team that carried out the planting, something that will also happen in this case. Today there have been 70 people, including bloggers and staff from Yves Rocher stores, who have been part of the activity in San Fernando de Henares. In total, an area of approximately 3.8 hectares has been reforested so far with a total of 2,800 plants.
Yves Rocher is one of the 18 signatory companies of the Biodiversity Pact, which aims to show the commitment of the company that adheres to it with the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. By signing this Compact, the company recognizes and supports the three objectives of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, which are to promote the conservation of biological diversity, sustainable use of its components and fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources. Yves Rocher is also the first company in the cosmetics sector to join the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative.
