The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of the Environment participates for the second consecutive year with a stand at the Youth Fair, Juvenalia 2006. This meeting place for children and young people will be held from 21 to 30 December at the Juan Carlos Primero Exhibition Centre in Madrid, IFEMA.
Through this participation, the Biodiversity Foundation aims to sensitize and raise awareness among young people about the need to preserve the environment that surrounds us. Thus, the Biodiversity Foundation will disseminate the “Countdown 2010”, an initiative to halt the loss of biodiversity, in which the year 2010 is set as the goal to achieve this objective, and to which the Biodiversity Foundation adhered last March. And for this, different activities have been prepared that will take place during the days in which this fair takes place at the stand of this entity.
The little ones will be able to learn about the problems of endangered spaces through a dynamic group game in which they will learn to contribute to their conservation. In addition, the stand of the Biodiversity Foundation will have a space where children and young people, individually, will be able to access BioDíver, the most dynamic part of the website of this institution, where they will find hobbies, stories, games and information that will help them to learn more about the environment. The bear “Robin”, the capercaillie “Paquito” and the lynx “Mayú”, pets of BioDíver, will visit Juvenalia to accompany the little ones in this fair. The Biodiversity Foundation will give its visitors educational and recreational material.
In addition, this space will have a cinema room, where videos will be projected on the conservation of natural spaces, on the preservation of species, such as the brown bear, and on general topics related to the environment so that the little ones learn to preserve the environment that surrounds us.
The stand of the Biodiversity Foundation will be located in Hall 4 of the Juan Carlos Primero fairgrounds in Madrid.
