The Director of Training, Communication and Awareness of the Biodiversity Foundation, a public foundation of the Government of Spain, under the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, Julia Vera, participated, today, in Bilbao, in the opening of the Training Conference “Participatory tools for the resolution of environmental conflicts”.

Organised by Bakeaz, in collaboration with the Biodiversity Foundation and the Basque Government’s Biodiversity Directorate, the conference offers technical training on the mechanisms that allow citizens to get involved in the management of environmental problems. The relationship between the environment and democracy, therefore, will be the subject of debate during these three days (from today until next Friday, in the La Bolsa Building).

They are therefore aimed at technical staff of the environment, Agenda 21 and technicians in the area of citizen participation of public administrations, as well as members of environmental associations.

During the first two days, the experts will talk about the relationship between ecology and democracy and about participatory methodologies. The presentations will be illustrated with practical cases. The third and final day is reserved for a participatory workshop on a specific environmental conflict.

The full programme can be consulted on the www.bakeaz.org website.
