The CSIC investigates the behaviour of the male capercaillie

The study shows that this species chooses the most virgin and oldest areas to display the courtship.

The information, published in the newspaper ABC, details the study in which the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) has participated on the relationship between
the behavior of the male of this species of bird during sexual courtship and its environment, in the forests of the Cantabrian Mountains.

Published in the most recent issue of the American journal PLoS ONE, the research seeks to discover the mechanisms that determine whether a species represents the
health of an ecosystem and the communities it hosts.
