The director of the Biodiversity Foundation inaugurates the exhibition “The writing of animals”

The director of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of the Environment, María Artola, accompanied by the mayor of San Sebastián, Odón Elorza, inaugurated today in San Sebastian the exhibition “The writing of animals”. This event was also attended by the curator of the exhibition, Joaquín Araújo.

The Cristina Enea Environmental Resource Centre in San Sebastian is hosting this exhibition from today that shows the diversity of the ecosystems of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as the biocenoses of these ecosystems, helping to interpret the footprints and signs that animals leave in their wake.

The writing of animals” is divided into three areas. The first of them “We are not alone” explains the work carried out by the Biodiversity Foundation in the field of conservation, study and sustainable use of biodiversity, as well as in international development cooperation. It also introduces the visitor to the world of paleowriting through a stratigraphic chronology, fossils and photographs.

The second shows the different types of ecosystems of the Iberian Peninsula by analysing the fauna, flora and protected natural spaces of the same. In addition, a documentary on animal behavior and the customs of the Iberian fauna is exhibited. The third area exposes the current situation of the most endangered species on the peninsula.

The Biodiversity Foundation promotes this exhibition whose objective is to show the diversity of ecosystems and species of the Iberian Peninsula, to help interpret the tracks and signs that animals leave in their wake, to arouse the curiosity of the school public towards natural systems and thus help to achieve an adequate valuation of our natural heritage. and to know those species that are in danger of extinction.

After having been at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid since 14 February, this exhibition can be visited from today at the Cristina Enea Environmental Resource Centre in San Sebastián.
