The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of the Environment collaborates with the Gourmets Group in the second edition of the EcoGourmets Awards 2006, dedicated to organic food. The aim of these awards, in which the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Fisheries and Food and the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture, SEAE, also participate, is to publicly recognise the people, companies, organisations and institutions that have contributed to the development of this agri-food model and whose efforts are an example to follow for entities linked to this sector.
These awards, created in 2005 with 6 different modalities that have been expanded to 12 in this edition, aim to contribute to the dissemination and development of organic food, especially in the Spanish market, where the consumption of these foods is below the average consumption of most European countries in the European Community.
The Gourmets Group and the Biodiversity Foundation, as well as the collaborating entities of this contest, intend that these awards become a prestigious award for those who, from the production, industrialization, distribution, communication or public administration, dedicate their activity totally or partially to the promotion of this sector.
The deadline for submitting the documentation is 15 March 2006 and must be submitted to the headquarters of the Gourmets Group, Calle Aniceto Marinas nº 92. 28008, Madrid. The jury’s decision will be made public during the celebration of the XX International Gourmet Club Show, which will be held in Madrid from May 8 to 11, 2006.
