Ana Leiva, director of the Biodiversity Foundation, has participated in the presentation of the “Environmental Education Guide of the Vía Verde de la Jara”, in Calera y Chozas, Toledo.

Carried out by the FFE with the collaboration of the Biodiversity Foundation and the Mancomunidad de la Vía Verde de la Jara, the guide was born as didactic material for environmental education on the Vía Verde de la Jara (Toledo) and its surroundings.

This publication is aimed at teachers and students of different educational levels, as well as all those sports, naturalist or cultural associations that organize visits to the Greenway. It has been published on paper (600 copies) and in electronic format (2,600 DVDs).

This initiative aims to contribute to the knowledge and protection of the natural, cultural and landscape values of this territory of Toledo. The publication includes a guide to environmental resources in the area, environmental interpretation and activity sheets, detailed cartography from the National Geographic Information Center, videos, image gallery, brochures to download and the game called “A day on the road”.

The Vía Verde de la Jara, 52 km long between Calera y Chozas and Santa Quintería, runs through an environment of great environmental value, between the Montes de Toledo and the Extremadura massif of Las Villuercas, crossing such unique places as the Finca del Arco, the Huso River, the San Martín valley and the Sierra de Altamira. This greenway has become one of the most important environmental and tourist resources in its territory, especially since the launch last year of the “Tourism Revitalization Plan of the Jara Greenway”, whose management is carried out by the FFE.
