On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, TVE has announced the broadcast of a new series of documentaries, ‘The Great Spectacles of Nature’, produced by the BBC.
The series can be seen, from September, on Sundays at 1:30 p.m., allowing the public “to witness the intimate behavior of animals in extreme situations, thanks to advanced satellite technology.”
At the presentation of this new programming, which took place today at the headquarters of the Biodiversity Foundation, the general director of TVE, Javier Pons, explained that the commitment made with the British channel is “exclusively financial, since no episode was filmed in Spain”. However, he pointed out that they will continue to advance in their commitment to dissemination and did not rule out that in the future this type of content may be offered in prime time.
“Our public nature forces us to bet on the environment and to participate in raising awareness in society about its conservation,” added Pons. He also explained that after the “successful” results obtained, in the past, with the program ‘Planeta Tierra’ (La 1), also produced by the BBC, the channel decided to “try its luck again”.
On the other hand, the director of TVE acknowledged that “he would like to work again soon with the BBC and establish a continued collaboration”. In this line, he announced that they plan to intervene in the next documentary project of the British production company, ‘Human Planet’, which “will study the relationships between man and his environment”.
