The director of the Biodiversity Foundation, Ana Leiva, participated on November 27 in the opening ceremony of the International Conference on Organic Agriculture and Financing.
She was accompanied by Esteban Barroso, President of the Triodos Foundation; Juana Labrador, president of the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture (SEAE) and Clemente Mata, deputy director general of Differentiated Quality and Organic Agriculture, Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM), among other representatives of the administrations.
The Triodos Foundation, in collaboration with the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture, and with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation, has organised this second edition of the International Conference on Organic Farming and Financing. Under the title “Price setting and the role of the different agents”, the conference focused on current issues such as the financial crisis and the creation of the price of food from the producer to the consumer.
The conference was aimed at producers, processors, distributors, entrepreneurs, consumers, public administrations and organizations linked to the organic agriculture and food sector.
This second edition has had the participation of the English economic historian Christopher Houghton Budd and the Director of the Soil Association, Patrick Holden. Houghton Budd delved into the latest research regarding the meaning and justification of corporate accounting, while Holden, director of one of the largest organic farming organizations in the world, spoke about the core values of this type of agriculture that arises from direct collaboration between producers and consumers.
