The partners of the LIFE SHARA project met today at the National Centre for Environmental Education (CENEAM) in Valsaín (Segovia) to evaluate the recent launch of the project website and the launch of the AdapteCCa newsletter as a communication channel on adaptation to climate change and on the progress of the project itself. The AdapteCCa platform enters a new phase within the framework of this project, which aims to strengthen the governance of climate change adaptation in Spain and Portugal. The most outstanding new features are the new image, the incorporation of new functionalities and an improvement of the viewer of regionalized climate change scenarios.
The committee has also reviewed a number of research and outreach works that are currently underway. Between now and the end of the year, two pioneering works will be carried out within the framework of the project: a study on the media treatment of adaptation to change during the last five years and a diagnosis of the scientific knowledge generated on adaptation to climate change between 1996 and 2016. Likewise, an informative exhibition on Adaptation to Climate Change for loans is also planned.
Finally, the committee has addressed the preparation of two events for the next quarter: the first sectoral seminar on “Impacts and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Insurance sector” that will take place on November 27 and 28, also in Valsaín, and the first formal meeting between Spain and Portugal, initially scheduled for December 19. and that will mark the beginning of the Cooperation Framework that will be established through the project.
