The Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs is organising the course “Hydrological-forest restoration actions, erosion control and defence against desertification aimed at the conservation and improvement of natural resources”, which will take place between 20 and 24 September.
The aforementioned course, which is held in the Madrid town of San Fernando de Henares (Madrid) is aimed at technicians with an interest in expanding, improving or updating their knowledge on activities related to the fight against erosion and the defense against desertification, through the conservation and improvement of natural resources. such as water, vegetation and soil.
Among the objectives of this seminar is to provide attendees with scientific and technical information and knowledge to carry out forest restoration actions, aimed at solving the problems of watersheds, as well as to control desertification and conserve biodiversity.
To this end, the program includes the study of topics such as environmental factors (water, vegetation and soil), green spaces in the watershed, Agrohydrological Management and Hydrology for large and small basins.
Throughout the week, classes will be given on the characterization of the torrential phenomenon and general principles for its correction, stabilization of banks and slopes through bioengineering techniques, design of reforestation, and on the use of forest biomass. In addition, the current situation of hydrological forest restoration in Spain will be analysed, various Plans and Programmes will be studied (the National Soil Erosion Inventory and the National Plan of Priority Actions), and it will be taught how to design and implement silvicultural treatments for the conservation and improvement of vegetation cover.
