The Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, through the General Secretariat of the Sea, will participate in the Euromares 2010 Conference and in the Seminar on the Protection of Biodiversity through the creation of Marine Protected Areas, which will be held on the occasion of the European Maritime Day in Gijón between 18 and 20 May.
Likewise, the General Secretariat of the Sea will organize different events within the framework of the European Maritime Day: the Open Days of the fishing inspection ships Chilreu, managed by the Spanish Navy, and Río Nalón, operated by the Civil Guard, as well as the ship of the General Secretariat of the Sea of fisheries cooperation INTERMARES.
The FROM, an agency dependent on the MARM, will hold children’s workshops on the preparation and tasting of fish recipes.
On the other hand, the Minister of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, Elena Espinosa, will participate in the opening ceremony of Plenary Session II on 20 May, in the subsequent press conference and in the ministerial panel on innovation for growth and employment.
The Secretary General of the Sea, Juan Carlos Martín Fragueiro, will speak in different events organized by the Secretary General of the Sea on the 19th. Thus, a visit to the ship INTERMARES has been organized for the press and will be attended by him.
