The Minister of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs presents the Biodiversity Foundation Awards

Endowed with a total amount of 101,000 euros, the Biodiversity Foundation Awards recognize the work of entrepreneurs who make a firm commitment to the sustainable management of natural resources, as well as communicators and creators who contribute to involving society in the improvement of the environment. On Thursday, June 2, the Minister of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs and president of the Biodiversity Foundation, Rosa Aguilar, presented the Biodiversity Foundation Awards for leadership, innovation and environmental communication to the winners of this second edition, in a ceremony held at the Ministry’s skylight.

In this second edition, entrepreneurs, researchers, organizations and creators were encouraged to publicize projects with which they would have helped to maintain the ecological values of the territory, for the conservation of the environment and sustainable development. A jury made up of renowned professionals from the environment and from each of the disciplines in competition awarded these awards among people and organizations that, with their work, have contributed to creating sustainable employment and well-being, as well as generating social change and individual involvement in a task that belongs to everyone.

It is worth highlighting the participation data of this second edition of the Biodiversity Foundation Awards, in which more than 560 nominations have competed. The ‘Photography’ modality, with 333 works received, was the most subscribed followed by ‘Literary Creation’, with 79 works presented. 50 projects were received in ‘Conservation in Action’; 40 documentaries and short films; 31 journalistic reports; 27 projects by entrepreneurs; and 8 initiatives in ‘Fight against maritime pollution’ complete the participation in this contest.
