The Ministry of the Environment denies that there will be an amnesty for illegal wells and believes that progress must be made in achieving the good status of groundwater. All this in accordance with the opinions of the Water Framework Directive and with what is set out in its inspiring principles, that is, through the collaboration of the different stakeholders and avoiding social tensions through a consensual policy.
This Ministry reiterates, once again, its willingness to provide a definitive solution to the problems related to the management of groundwater in our country, problems that have traditionally been insufficiently addressed.
Seeking the broadest consensus and respecting current legislation, the Ministry of the Environment is going to prepare a document that allows planning of uses and resources seeking sustainability in the use of groundwater. To this end, the Ministry of the Environment is carrying out a series of actions, including the creation of a groundwater working group. The mission of this group is to collect the aspirations, opinions and studies of the different groups involved in the management of this valuable resource, that is, users from different sectors, professionals, technicians, associations that watch over the environment, administrations, etc.
