The Minister of the Environment, Cristina Narbona, reported yesterday in the Plenary Session of the Congress of Deputies on the level of execution of the actions planned in the A.G.U.A. Program in the Mediterranean basins, which her department is developing to increase the availability and quality of the resource.

The development of the A.G.U.A. Program is meeting the planned schedule and this quarter another 9 desalination plants will be tendered, which will provide more than 250 cubic hectometers, to which must be added the 4 that are in public information.

All these investments, together with the actions already underway to modernise irrigation, the sustainable use of groundwater and the reuse of treated water, are making it possible to increase the availability of water, mainly in areas where it is scarce, with greater guarantee and quality and in shorter periods than those envisaged by the repealed transfer of the Ebro. These projects will make it possible to obtain the 1,200 million euros of European aid that the previous government did not obtain for this transfer.
