The Ministry of the Environment has presented, at the meeting of the Sectoral Conference held on 2 and 3 June in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the progress made in the preparation of the new National Water Quality Plan: sanitation and purification.
Its fundamental objective is to satisfy the unmet and future needs in terms of sanitation and treatment of the Autonomous Communities and Local Corporations. For this reason, the Ministry of the Environment considers that it should not be just another catalogue of works declared of general interest, but a real management tool with great potential for the development of the regions.
This Plan aims to comply with Law 11/2005, of 22 June, which amends Law 10/2001, of 5 July, on the National Hydrological Plan, which establishes in its Seventh Additional Provision, the revision, by the Government, of the National Sanitation Plan, after consensus with the Autonomous Communities, within the framework of the development of hydrological planning and with the deadlines required by the Water Framework Directive.
