The participatory campaign “Get wet for conservation” begins to highlight the areas of the marine Natura 2000 Network and their responsible enjoyment

The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has launched, within the framework of the LIFE INTEMARES project and with the collaboration of Submon, the participatory campaign “Get wet for conservation” with the aim of involving society in the enhancement of the protected marine areas of the marine Natura 2000 Network in Spain and their enjoyment in a responsible way. taking advantage of the summer season.

Under the theme “Connecting with the ocean: enjoying marine and coastal spaces”, this action includes two modalities of participation: video and photography.

Anyone over 18 years of age and resident in Spain can participate. It seeks to encourage the general public, cultural centers, students of photography and audiovisual arts academies, as well as diving centers and companies that offer coastal tourism activities.

This action is part of the awareness programme of the LIFE INTEMARES project, which is coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. This programme aims to raise awareness in society about the value and importance of the marine protected areas of the Natura 2000 Network in Spain.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

People who want to participate must send their photograph and/or video by email to comunicacion@submon.org under the subject “Get wet for conservation” and specify the following information:

– Full name of the participant.

– The location where the video or photograph was recorded, indicating the city, municipality or region, and if known, the name of the Marine Protected Area in which it is located. It is essential that it is part of a marine Natura 2000 Network site, the largest network of protected areas in the world. On this map you can consult all the spaces that belong to the network in Spain.

– Description of the photograph or video: brief explanation of what can be seen in the image, if an activity is being carried out, the species or habitat observed or the positive emotions transmitted by being in contact with that marine space.

Photographs and videos should always be taken following good practices for the use of protected natural areas.

Each person can participate more than once and in more than one category, sending several photographs or videos. Each email received will count as an entry, as long as it meets the specifications.

Requirements for the submission of photographs:

The photographs must be sent in computer support in JPEG, PNG or TIFF format, at a resolution of 300dpi, with dimensions of 1,920 pixels of resolution on its largest side. Photographs must not have frames, borders, watermarks, or captions. Black and white photographs are accepted. Photographs may not be electronically altered with filters. Video submission requirements:

Videos must be recorded in landscape format and a maximum duration of approximately 3 minutes is recommended. It can be in color or black and white; with or without sound; always with real images. The videos must be made with their own audiovisual material.

In all cases, the participants are fully responsible for being the sole authors, for the fact that there are no rights to third parties, as well as for any claim for image rights over the works submitted to the contest.

DRAWING AN ILLUSTRATION

A draw will be held among the participants by email, as long as they meet the aforementioned requirements. An original watercolor by the artist Cristina Otero (@Akris.painting). To carry out the draw, the Sorteos App application will be used to ensure the transparency of the process. The winner will communicate through the LIFE INTEMARES website and social networks and will be notified by email to the same account from which the submission was made.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES

The deadline to participate will be open until September 30, 2022. Emails sent after this date will not be accepted.

COPYRIGHT AND ASSIGNMENT OF USE

The authorship of the work corresponds to the natural persons who create it, as provided for in article 5.1 of Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996, of 12 April, which approves the revised text of the Intellectual Property Law, regularising, clarifying and harmonising the legal provisions in force on the matter. The moral rights that correspond to the author(s) are inalienable and inalienable. The Biodiversity Foundation must include the name of the author in future printed reproductions or by any digital means.

The people who participate declare that they are the authors of each work presented and own all the rights.

Photographs where recognisable people appear must have their express consent and permission to transfer the image rights. The Biodiversity Foundation will not be responsible for possible lawsuits against authors, which may be grounds for disqualification of a work.

The Biodiversity Foundation reserves the right to reproduce the winning and finalist works only for the purpose of sharing the results, promoting it and carrying out training and educational projects organised by the entity.

DATA PROTECTION

Participation implies full acceptance of each and every one of these bases. All the personal data of the participants will be treated confidentially in accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD).
