The Emprendeverde Network of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, is one of the two Spanish projects selected to participate in the European final of the European Business Promotion Awards, in the category “Support for the development of green markets and resource efficiency“.
The European Business Promotion Awards recognise those entities that promote entrepreneurship at national, regional and local level. All countries of the European Union can participate in these awards, as well as Iceland, Serbia and Turkey. Since 2006, around 2,800 projects have already been part of these awards and have favoured the creation of new companies.
The awards, organised by the European Commission, will be presented during the annual SME Assembly, which this year will take place from 18 to 20 November in Luxembourg. A jury, proposed by the Commission itself, will be in charge of drawing up a list of shortlisted candidates and choosing a winner for each category, who will be recognized with the Grand Jury Prize.
These awards aim to recognise the activities and initiatives put in place to promote business and entrepreneurship, as well as to showcase and share examples of best practice and create awareness of the role entrepreneurship plays in society. They also aim to inspire and enhance the talent of entrepreneurs.
To this end, they have different categories such as the promotion of entrepreneurship, investment in entrepreneurship, support for the internalization of businesses or support for the development of green markets and efficient resources.
For its part, the Emprendeverde Network is the first platform specialising in green business aimed at entrepreneurs and investors, with the aim of promoting the creation and consolidation of companies or new lines of business in activities linked to the environment, and channelling investment towards sustainable economic activities. It is an initiative, co-financed by the European Social Fund, which already has more than 7,200 members.
