The training actions of the 59 projects of the Empleaverde Program have already begun. This initiative of the Biodiversity Foundation has, in 2012, an investment of just over 6 million euros and is co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF).

The selected projects are aimed at boosting the sustainability of economic activities by upskilling and upskilling workers and supporting the creation, conversion and modernisation of enterprises. The aid for the projects, which have already been launched, has been awarded to entities in the business, professional and trade union sectors, foundations, NGOs and associations, and the academic sector.

Nearly 700 actions will be carried out, including courses, conferences, advice, etc., until the end of 2012, aimed at sectors such as agriculture (production, processing and marketing), forestry, fisheries, energy, the environment, sustainable rural development and in protected areas and biosphere reserves, sustainable tourism and the rehabilitation and building sector. The courses and conferences, all free of charge, are held throughout Spain.
