The feature film seeks to raise awareness in society about the impact that certain species from other latitudes have on ecosystems, the economy and people’s health.
The Director General of the Natural Environment and Forest Policy of the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs, José Jiménez, and the Director of the Biodiversity Foundation, a public foundation dependent on the MARM, Ana Leiva, attended this morning the press screening of the documentary ‘Invasores’, at the Pequeño Cine Estudio, in Madrid. The naturalist Luis Miguel Domínguez, director, director and screenwriter of the feature film, was also at this event to explain some keys to the audiovisual that accounts for the invasive exotic species present in Spain and the risk they pose to biodiversity.
‘Invasores’ is a tool to raise awareness in Spanish society about a complex problem, informing about the damage caused by foreign species and the consequences that derive from it. It also highlights the importance of environmental education in influencing the population’s environmental knowledge and attitudes, as an essential element in preventing further introductions.
The Biodiversity Foundation has supported the making of this documentary that premieres today in cinemas.
The feature film ‘Invasores’ has been nourished by numerous interviews with experts in biological invasions of the country, including, among others, José Jiménez and Luis Mariano González, from the General Directorate of Natural Environment and Forest Policy of the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs. It is co-produced by Avatar Wildlife and TVE, with the collaboration of the Biodiversity Foundation and the participation of Televisió de Catalunya (TV3).
