Our Board of Trustees has approved allocating 5.1 million euros to the development of projects that result in the improvement of Spain’s terrestrial and marine biodiversity.
We will soon publish three calls for aid for the implementation of various initiatives that allow progress in the protection of the environment. In addition, we will launch a series of grants, endowed with 2 million euros, for the creation of green employment and to promote the hiring of unemployed people in this sector.
Thus, through a call endowed with 3 million euros, we are looking for projects that provide data that allow us to evaluate and improve the state of the terrestrial species or habitats that make up the natural heritage in Spain.
The results of these initiatives will make it possible to provide sufficient information to guarantee compliance with the purposes of conservation, sustainable use, improvement and restoration of the natural heritage and biodiversity of Spain. They will also be the basis for the preparation of the sexennial report derived from Article 17 of the Habitat Directive.
We will also grant aid for marine conservation in Spain, with a budget of 1.7 million euros, which will be aimed at projects that contribute to the management and conservation of marine biodiversity in the face of the impacts it may suffer and also to ensure its sustainable development.
All projects that apply for these grants must contribute to achieving the goals reflected in the Strategic Plan for Natural Heritage and Biodiversity.
Finally, we will launch grants worth 2 million euros that they have for the hiring of unemployed people in the green and blue economy sector. The entities that carry out these contracts must be linked, directly or indirectly, to this sector or generate employment that contributes to sustainable business lines and improvement of green employment. These grants are part of the Empleaverde programme, an initiative to improve employment, entrepreneurship and the environment.
