We launched an environmental awareness campaign for primary school students

The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, in collaboration with Teachers for Future Spain, have launched an awareness campaign on the importance of protecting biodiversity and promoting sustainable lifestyle habits, aimed at primary school students.

The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, in collaboration with Teachers for Future Spain, have launched an awareness campaign on the importance of protecting biodiversity and promoting sustainable lifestyle habits, aimed at primary school students.

“Biodiversity and Zoonosis” is the title of a series of materials that include 7 informative videos and an informative dossier in which primary school children will be able to find out and carry out activities on biodiversity, care for the environment, responsible consumption, sustainable mobility, recycling and also on the importance of communicating and raising awareness about sustainability. among other topics, to be able to learn by playing.

All the materials are available on the Biodiversity Foundation website, and will be shared with schools, teacher training centres and competent administrations in the field of education. The materials can also be consulted through the websites of both Ministries.

Campaign objectives

“Biodiversity and zoonoses” is a tool that will help teachers and students to contextualize the current climate and health emergency and to value and improve knowledge of biodiversity, generating useful information and resources for society as a whole that increase awareness and sensitivity to phenomena such as the loss of biodiversity.

Contributing to improving environmental education is a key element in achieving an ecological and just transition. Increasing information, sensitivity, knowledge, predisposition, motivation, commitment or participation is essential for all sectors, and in particular education, to be part of this process.
