The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has allocated more than one million euros through several calls of the Empleaverde Programme to support actions aimed at promoting the hiring of unemployed people and promoting initiatives in order to activate the creation of green companies, in addition to other projects that will facilitate the connection of entrepreneurs with other European green entrepreneurship ecosystems.

The aim of these calls is to contribute to a green recovery and face the current major challenges such as the crisis generated by COVID-19, the loss of biodiversity, climate change and depopulation.

Thus, within the framework of the Empleaverde Programme, and with the co-financing of the European Social Fund, three calls have been launched that work with these objectives. The purpose of these projects is to support 9 projects aimed at promoting the creation of green and blue companies and 3 initiatives aimed at promoting the connection of entrepreneurs with other European green entrepreneurship ecosystems, whose implementation began on November 1. Job creation is also encouraged, co-financing 66 contracts for unemployed people.

Support for entrepreneurship and connectivity with European entrepreneurs
Within the Impulsa call , 9 training and support projects for entrepreneurs have been launched for the creation of green and blue companies, for the execution of which nearly 900,000 euros have been allocated.

The actions of these projects are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on sustainable development in rural areas, regions with problems of population ageing and economic regression, such as former mining areas. These are projects of social innovation, business management and the creation of new business models, sustainable tourism or sustainable agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, fishing and forestry, which are developed both on land and in the marine environment.

The Conecta call allocates more than 200,000 euros to 3 projects that promote connection with other European entrepreneurship ecosystems. These are initiatives that promote entrepreneurship in the field of the circular economy through social innovation actions and will improve the skills of entrepreneurs for the launch of ideas for sustainable business projects in the blue economy sector and in the environments of the Natura 2000 Network. The third of the projects is participatory leadership in an area affected by an economic reconversion plan for the energy sector, in order to achieve a fair energy transition.

Support for the recruitment of unemployed people
In this line, the Emple call allocates more than 200,000 euros to the execution of 66 contracts for unemployed people, with a special emphasis on priority social groups (women, young people up to 35 years of age, over 45 years of age, immigrants, people with disabilities or residents of protected areas and rural areas).

The beneficiary entities that have made these contracts focus their activity on sectors such as sustainable agriculture and livestock; the blue economy; environmental improvement and eco-innovation in industry or company; the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste; sustainable transport and mobility and sustainable tourism, among others.

All these actions are carried out within the Empleaverde Programme, an initiative of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, to promote and improve employment, entrepreneurship and the environment. The empleaverde Programme is co-financed by the Operational Programme for Employment, Training and Education (POEFE) of the European Social Fund. If you want to know more, here is all the information.
