These resources seek to raise awareness of the need to take measures to achieve or maintain good environmental status within the framework of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
As part of the dissemination and awareness strategy of the MISTIC SEAS 2 project, we have published various materials on the marine biodiversity that the Macaronesia area (Canary Islands, Azores, Madeira and Cape Verde) hosts. These resources seek to raise awareness of the need to take measures to achieve or maintain good environmental status within the framework of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
We are making available to teachers, social agents and the general public two teaching units aimed at teachers (one for primary school students and the other for secondary school), an exhibition and posters on marine biodiversity of Macaronesia. In addition, it will launch two contests, one for children (from 6 to 12 years old) for illustration and another for youth (from 12 years old) to create an image with a message to spread on social networks.
The MISTIC SEAS 2 project is an initiative in which the Governments of Spain and Portugal are working together, which studies the environmental status for the implementation of the second cycle of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive on the islands of the Macaronesia region, one of the largest in Europe’s seas. very little studied and with greater marine biodiversity.
Through these materials, it is possible to learn a little more about the populations of mammals, turtles and seabirds in this region, highlighting the richness of Macaronesia. Its objective is to make different audiences aware of the impacts that human beings are causing in the sea and be the engine of change towards more sustainable practices.
