WWF/Adena has launched the Electricity Observatory

WWF/Adena launches the Electricity Observatory for the first time. This tool will be in the form of a newsletter, will be published monthly on the website and will offer information to electricity consumers on the types of technologies that have been used in that period and the emissions of CO2, polluting gases and radioactive waste generated to produce the electricity we have consumed. Its main objective is to raise consumer awareness of the importance of saving energy and betting on renewable sources to reduce impacts on the environment and fight climate change.

The bulletin will include an indicator of Environmental Quality of electricity through which the environmental impacts of electricity production will be compared with the average of the same for the last three years. Through the indicator, WWF/Adena wants to monitor the electricity sector in order to see if it is evolving towards values with less impact on the environment. The bulletin will also help the user to access the following information on the electricity consumed in the Iberian Peninsula during the last month.
