The Secretary General for the Prevention of Pollution and Climate Change, Arturo Gonzalo Aizpiri, inaugurated yesterday the National Conference on Environmental Assessment. This Conference coincides with the passage of the Environmental Assessment Plans and Programs Act, known as the Strategic Environmental Assessment. This law includes important amendments to the Law on Environmental Assessment of Projects, all within a Shock Plan that covers a broad package of measures to promote environmental assessment and turn it into an effective instrument at the service of a preventive environmental policy and sectoral integration for sustainability.
The Conference is made up of four discussion tables whose theme focuses on the experience and proposals expressed by the European Union, the General State Administration, Autonomous Communities, civil society, NGOs and consulting companies specialized in engineering and environmental impact assessment.
