Gateway to biodiversity

This forum is a space for participation and exchange in person and online, in which state, regional and local experts have the opportunity to share ideas, experiences and proposals for intervention.

This seminar on sustainable lifestyles seeks to be a space for reflection and a forum for the work of experts in various fields of action related to this topic. In addition, it aims to identify exemplary and replicable initiatives that promote changes in behaviour and consumption habits that are more sustainable with nature. To encourage debate and reflection, the results of the report “Social and psychosocial analysis on factors influencing changes in lifestyles”, prepared within the framework of the project “Changing lifestyles to recover nature”, promoted by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, will be taken as a reference. within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (RTRP), financed by European Union funds – NextGenerationEU.

This seminar seeks to raise awareness of the importance and opportunities offered by green infrastructure, share visions and advances from the Autonomous Communities and other sectors such as science. For the proposal of the contents of the seminar, the conclusions and needs raised at the last meeting of the IVCRE Strategy Working Group held between the Autonomous Communities and MITECO on 17 February 2022 have been taken into account, to use the seminars as a tool for work, reflection and sharing of different topics and issues raised at that meeting.

In the second seminar of the cycle of conferences “The Gateway to Biodiversity”, which we organize within the framework of the International Day for Biological Diversity, we will discuss the cross-cutting aspects of the relationship between nature and human activity, and its impact on biodiversity. Through the participation of various experts, we intend to highlight the role of biodiversity as a fundamental part of green recovery, focusing on the benefits it brings us and the solutions it offers us for renaturation and change in our cultural and economic model from a scientific point of view.

Understanding the relationship between gender and the environment is key to addressing environmental challenges in an egalitarian and sustainable way. Although there is evidence of the important link between gender and the environment, we still lack relevant data. This first seminar of the Cycle of Conferences that we are launching at our headquarters in Seville aims to provide diverse perspectives on this nexus and generate knowledge that will help us face the ecological transition with a gender perspective.
