The last three conferences of the Conventions on Biological Diversity, Desertification and Climate Change heard the same conversation: nature as an effective and cost-effective solution. The next major summit will be the COP30 Climate Summit in Belem, Brazil, where nature is expected to be back at the centre of negotiations.
In this edition of the Annual Meeting of the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative, nature will be considered as an opportunity.
IPBES’ scientific perspective on what solutions could comprehensively address the links between biodiversity loss, water scarcity, food security, health risks and climate change will be shared; inspiring experiences of companies that are already restoring and conserving critical natural assets for their economic activity will be presented; and discussions will be held with key agents on what challenges and opportunities remain to be addressed.
The event will be inaugurated by Hugo Morán, Secretary of State for the Environment, who will be accompanied by Félix Romero, director of the Biodiversity Foundation.
