Virtual conference “Opportunities of Land Stewardship for Local Entities”

The Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) collaborate in the development of actions through the Land Stewardship Platform and the LIFE CUSTODIA project, which is coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation with the aim of advancing in the consolidation of land stewardship in Spain through social innovation and the promotion of public policies, the mobilization of financing and the internationalization of land stewardship as a tool for nature conservation.

Along these lines, the virtual conference “Opportunities for Land Stewardship for Local Entities” will be held, in which it will be briefly explained what land stewardship is, what its situation is in Spain and how it can be integrated into the policies developed by local entities for the conservation and restoration of nature. The experience of 4 local entities that promote this tool in their territorial areas will also be shared.

In addition, a brief survey has been created to assess the degree of knowledge, involvement and interest that local entities have in the figure of land stewardship. The results will be very useful to know what are the main actions aimed at local entities that can be carried out over the next few years within the framework of the LIFE CUSTODIA project.
